Happy Holidays

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL

This is the time of year when we are celebrating family. And with the spirit of Thanksgiving we are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Contrary to popular belief celebrating Jesus does not mean that we can't give to others but we must continue giving as we continue to place Christ first.

We all know that it is by His grace that we are able to feast, purchase and give gifts, have the health and strength to accomplish what we set out to accomplish.

So in this season continue in prayer for the less fortunate, the depressed, the lonely, the mentally ill, and all people of God. Also send a special prayer for our leaders both spiritual then natural.

I love you all.

For if I should desire to glory, I shall not be foolish; for I shall speak the truth: but I forbear, lest any man should account of me above that which he seeth me to be, or heareth from me. And by reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, that I should not be exalted overmuch. Concerning this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (2 Cor 12:6-10)

Give the Gift of Music, Give the Gift of Life

A couple of years ago I heard a preacher say "Why do we give sweaters to people that are on their way to hell?" My first response was "What in the world is he talking about?" Well as the sermon went on he explained that as Christians, (saints of God, or saved folk whatever we are calling ourselves these days) we should be more aware and put more thought into our Christmas gifts. Do we pray and ask the Lord for direction? We are asking God to save our family and friends (we should be praying for our enemie's salvation as well) but how are we positioning ourselves to be used by God.

If you buy a CD that will minister to someone, even if they put it on the shelf until one day or late night (in the near or far future) when there is noone to turn to and prayer is not on their mind they may put it in and be ministered to. Maybe a bible, or inspirational book such as "The Purpose Driven Life" or "Matters of the Heart" can be helpful it may end up being a late night reading experience that will change a life forever.

We have to look through God's eyes looking past the material and looking into the spiritual. Even if they don't appreciate it at the time isn't their soul important enough to you to place your self in a potentially akward position.

Take your time and think about it.

Jesus is the Reason for the Christmas season. Let's not be influenced by the world and stop acknowledging God in all that we do so that we are able to be led by God.

"For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God." KJV Romans 8:24-27

Musicals and Plays or Whatever

Hello again.

I'm not sure how you all feel about plays or musicals. I know at first I just thought they were all the same. I want a man, I need a man, the man I have is no good so he beat me or cheated I went to church one Sunday he got saved, or I met a nice Christian man "The End".

Well my mind changed when my mother finally got be to watch "Mr. Right Now" this is a love story but it has many more elements than I ever thought. Next was "His Woman, His Wife" which was great when they added the villian and nasty baby momma.

But what really grabs you unexpectedly is the music selection and the talented singers used in each play. (The music progress as David's career does.) I expected to hear a lot of remakes and I'm not talking good ones but the secular songs made to gospel songs or gospel songs made to love songs because the writer or producer does not have enough musical know how or the right mind to ask a musician or songwriter for a little help. These plays really opened the door for me. They were produced by David E. Talbert. If you don't know who he is check him out at www.DavidETalbert.com.

If you are familiar with Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago you will see on the best Sopranos in my book LeCresia Campbell. There are also many familiar faces from TV, Movies, and singers from different groups and choirs.

I said all this to say this. There are other plays which David has produced "Love on Layaway", "Fabric of a Man", and "He Say, She Say but What does God Say". There are others but this is what I've seen of his to date.

My personal favorite is the "He say, She Say". This play is much more than what the title eludes. Based in Detroit drug dealers and gangsters are warring with the local church. Without telling the story before you watch it just know that God prevailed after many twists and turns.

I recommend this as your first David film. There are many others but if you are of the mindset that all black plays are the same watch this one first and let me know what you think.

Now I know you are wondering what about Tyler Perry. Well we will tackle that another day when I have more time.

Love you all to pieces.
