God's Way

Hello all,

I hope everyone is having a great Memorial weekend. I'm sitting with my family and surfing the web and I just realized I haven't updated the blog in two months. I really haven't purchased any new music but I have been revisiting some oldies.

I put Trinity Temple's 'God's Way' in the car last week and it has some great choir music including the title track. It's a good reminder that everything has to be done God's way. We must remember that we serve a sovereign God he knows all, sees all, and hears all. He has the best laid plan for our lives. He knows exactly how break us so He can make us and mold us for His purpose.

I also put in Virtue's 'Virtuosity' there is a song called 'Til You Believe'. This song reminds us how great God is and how He is able to do anything but when it comes to working in our lives He can't move until we believe. The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. It also states that faith without works is dead so even though we serve an able and powerful God we must believe then through our belief we must do the work that He has called us to do.

That is all for now. I guess these are more sermonettes than recommendations, but I hope you we blessed.

Love God and Serve Him.

The Best Drummer

About 10 years ago (maybe longer) I was one of the biggest John P. Kee fans around. I have many of his Cd's, Tapes and Videos. At the time I thought he had the greatest drummer around...Ladell Abrams. He was the most talented drummer I'd seen. When he started touring with other artist I was devastated. When he came to our state meeting it was a feeding frenzy, everyone wanted to watch him play and hold his stick bag. He broke a stick and people were fighting over the pieces.

I wrote all that to say that Flint has some unsung musicians. During this time span my siblings and our friends were concert and musical junkies. Over the years we grew older, got full time employment, some of us have married, had children, etc. Sometimes being close to people causes us not to recognize greatness among us.

One of those friends is Levi Baker. Levi Baker is a professional drummer. He is the best drummer to come out of Flint. It's not just because he plays well but because of his attitude and demeanor. We all know musicians with talent but they are arrogant, uptight, pompous, self righteous, unapproachable and ungodly.

Mr. Baker is none of those things. He's saved, gracious, kind, approachable, helpful, and has a sense of humor. One thing I love is that he hasn't forgotten his friends.

My brother called him to help out during our annual choir musical and he came through to help and support us. We all know good friends are hard to find.

If you have a circle of friends feel free to celebrate them. Don't be blind to the talented people among you.

I am taking time to celebrate Levi for being a true friend and supporter of my brother and family.

May God bless and prosper you. Continue to be kind. Continue to be God's Levi Priest.

Be blessed and be holy.

Bishop G. E. Patterson

On February 13th I suggested that anyone that likes old school music should buy Bishop G. E. Patterson's CDs and DVDs.

If you haven't heard Bishop Patterson passed on this past week. Bishop Patterson was a great leader and will be greatly missed. We must remember that to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.

On our local 24 hour radio station WFLT 1420AM it was announced that the music was selling out in Bible stores everywhere especially in Memphis, Tennessee. So if you have been looking for them try your mainstream avenues Wal-mart, Target, Meijer, K Mart, etc.

I know that mainstream says that Old School just don't cut it anymore but I know that God is the same today, yesterday and forever and if it encouraged and blessed saints back then it will now.

For video about Bishop G. E. Patterson go to WREG.com.

Be Blessed.

Write My Song - Marcus Cole

I'm listening to Marcus again. It is always good to listen to your new music until you are tired of it then a month or so down the road listen to it again. You always find new reasons to fall in love with it all over again.

I am so proud of Marcus the vocals are on point but the album also reflects so many different aspects of music. Which really defines him as gifted.

'It's Alright' and 'The Lord has been Good' has a contemporary feel.
'Finally' takes us back to Marcus and Terrance Herd's album.
'Remember to Breathe' is reminiscent of Commissioned like a good Mitchell Jones song.
'I Don't Know' is really new school upbeat and energetic.
'Write My Song', 'Being with You' & 'Persuaded' has a slow jam tempo songs that can cause you to reflect on your life and relationship with the Lord.
'Celebrate' is exactly that a celebration of Jesus Christ reminds me of Fred Hammond and Israel Houghton.
'You're There' this is a song of reflection and gratitude.
Last but not least 'Bless My Soul' has become my JAM this time around. As I listened to it over and over it reminded me of CeCe Winan's 'Lamb of God' which is great because I love that song too.

Read the lyrics below and if you don't have this CD I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you get it.

Be Blessed, Be Holy

Love, Ro.

Bless My Soul - Marcus Cole

I’ve inquired about your love; through the years
I’ve often wondered; why I’m here
Finding consolation through my tears
My desire is to be more sincere
Author of my past and destiny
Complete the work that you’ve begun in me
Till the day that I rest at your feet
But until then I rest within your peace

Bless my soul, please bless my soul
Bless my soul, please bless my soul
I am come too far, now to let go
I can be whole if you would bless my soul

I have learned to let all possessions go
In exchange for the things you hold
So now wash me Lord now through and through
My heart will sing a song of gratitude

Bless my soul, please bless my soul
Bless my soul, please bless my soul
I am come too far, now to let go
I can be whole if you would bless my soul

Bless my soul, please bless my soul
Bless my soul, please bless my soul
I am come too far, now to let go

I can be whole if you would bless my soul
I can be whole if you would bless my soul
Lord, I can be whole if you would bless my soul

More than anything I need you just to bless my soul
More than anything I need you just to bless my soul
More than the money I need you just to bless my soul
Give me integrity I need you just to bless my soul
Give me longevity I need you just to bless my soul
Now more than anything I need you just to bless my soul
Make me a better witness I need you just to bless my soul
I need your spirit I need you just to bless my soul
I need you, I need you, I need you Lord,
I need thee oh to bless my soul

Some Must Have Music

The other day I put Joann Rosario "Now More that Ever...Worship" in again and it took me back to how I felt when I first listened to it. This is one of the greatest CDs ever. If you don't have it please go get.

The other morning I was half sleep and the radio was on (It's great to have a 24 hour gospel station) and I heard an song title "Blessed and Highly Favored" by the Clark Sisters. I was so excited you know I have been waiting for them to do something new for years and this song sounds much like the old school Clark Sisters. It reminds me of songs like "Hi-Ya" and "Pure Gold" and "Nothing to Lose".

There will be a Final Live performance from the Clark Sisters on February 28th in Franklin, Tennessee. It will air on the Gospel Music Channel on April 10th. The DVD will be available in June and the CD will be available April 10th.

If you love Old School Music. Bishop G.E. Patterson's "Singing the Old Time Way" Volumes 1 and 2 is just for you. I love this so much. Please pick it up. You will be glad you did. This is also on DVD.

I also have a little to say about Kelly Price's Gospel project. I like most of the tracks. Some are old school songs plus my favorite contemporary track "I need a Healing". The only issue I have is with CD is the track titled "Warning". It portrays someone asking for prayer and when the man of God starts telling the person that if you don't obey God you won't be blessed. Then the person is offended and starts issuing a "warning" to the preacher. Personally I believe that is the worst track on the album. I wonder why is it when someone is speaking blessing and healing it is well recieved but the same person that claims relationship can't take correction. If some of us would read in the Word a little deeper we will know that there are a lot of conditional promises in the Bible. So I admonish everyone to be careful about how you recieve things from God it is all for your good whether we want to hear it or not.

Love,

Ro.

Happy New Year

Hello All,

I know it's been a long time. I'm looking forward to great things in 2007, better music, better ministry, better lifestyle and an even better relationship with Jesus. I know Christmas has passed but continue to look for a new post about Christmas Music. Continue to pray for me in my writing endeavors. I'm learning a lot, sometimes overwhelmed but with the help of the Lord I will make it.

Continue to stay strong and seek the face of God,

Love,

Ro.
